Youth Futures

UIA’s flagship project Youth Futures is an unprecedented project of national scope that provides children and youth at risk (ages 6-18) with comprehensive, tailored intervention to enable them to become independent, productive members of Israeli society. These children come from broken homes and disadvantaged backgrounds. Youth Futures is there to help these children to be children again, to have dreams and the chance to succeed.

Trained trustees become like big brothers and sisters to these youth who are not receiving enough attention at home or in school. Through individually tailored solutions, trustees work with the child to help them build self-esteem and make sure they have the proper tools to succeed.

Around 40% of Israel’s population is children and teens aged 0-18, and of those, 16% are defined as ‘at- risk.’ A child ‘at-risk’ is “a child who is in a situation which harms or may harm his ability to become integrated into a sound way of life in studies, social life, or family life, or in situation where is real concern for his normative development, whether because of himself, his family or his environment.” The Youth Futures program caters for these children at risk, and helps them to fulfill their full potential and break the cycle of poverty and crime.

Youth Futures is a collective commitment that infuses Israel’s disadvantaged regions with real hope for transformative change and excellence.

What began as a bold experiment in 2005 now serves over 10,000 children and youth in 32 locations throughout Israel – bringing them from risk to promise.
