Aliyah, Rescue and Absorption
UIA supports rescue operations of Jews in distress around the world and the continuing work for Aliyah to Israel. Money raised helps answer the immediate needs of new immigrants and assists them with the many challenges of rebuilding a life in Israel, and in case of emergency will be dedicated to the Jewish Agency’s rescue operations.
Israel holds the world record for the highest rate of immigrant absorption in the developed world. With the assistance of Keren Hayesod, over 3 million Jews have made their way to Israel since 1948- with more than one million arriving from the Soviet Union since 1990.
Keren Hayesod through a partnership with the Jewish Agency assists these olim with the first steps in settling into their new homeland through the establishment of absorption centres and a variety of educational programs. This support provides them with the tools they need for successful integration in modern-day Israeli life and culture.
